Through our decades of experience and technological leadership in all areas of aluminum fabrication (casting, machining, extrusions, welding/brazing, etc.), Gupta Permold has developed and earned a clear cost and performance advantage in the manufacturing of Cold Plates & Heat Sinks.
Applications range across a spectrum of industries, from medical equipment to micro-chip/semiconductor components. Whatever form your application demands (vacuum-brazed cold plate, aluminum casting with internal cooling passages, CNC machined finned extrusion, etc.), Gupta Permold can work closely with your Engineering Department to develop a design that surpasses your performance requirements, and yet is designed for manufacturability to achieve the lowest possible cost.
Air is the enemy of good heat transfer, as it's one of the best insulators in nature. The dense, nearly porosity-free casting from Gupta by definition has virtually no trapped air in the microstructure, which in turn enables maximum heat transfer and cooling rates.
A unique capability of our casting process. Cooling tubes of any material (stainless steel, copper, wrought aluminum, etc.) can be integrally cast in to aluminum shapes to produce 100% leak-proof cooling passages.Cooling media such as water, alcohol, de-ionized water, oil, etc can be used to achieve superior cooling performance.
When casting in cooling tubes, there is no-leak path for the media to escape the cooling channels by definition. No impregnation needed. Superior heat transfer between the cooling tube and the aluminum itself is readily achievable because of Gupta's proprietary technology that allows the aluminum to "lay" on the tubing, and fight its natural tendency. Precision is so good that minimal aluminum thicknesses are needed after machining, which in turn minimizes the distance from the cooling to the heat source.
Process used to metallurgically bond two independently made aluminum components for completely enclosed chambers. Furthermore, Gupta Permold has the technology to vacuum braze cast aluminum components in a pressure-tight manner that drastically reduces cold plate manufacturing costs by severely reducing machining.
Thermal fin stock material available in a variety of sizes and configurations to suit your application.
For the most demanding air-cooling applications, aluminum fins can be extruded or cast, depending on length:thickness ratio and total fin count. Heavily finned extrusions can be welded onto aluminum castings or machined hogouts for a hybrid construction that can achieve amazing performance at a fraction of the cost.
On the "flip" side, Gupta's technological leadership in aluminum fabrication lends itself very nicely to the custom manufacturing of Aluminum Heaters.
For these types of heaters, uses range from food equipment, industrial cookware, imprinting equipment, process heating, etc.
Again, let Gupta's engineers work with your team in developing a robust, mass-producible heater design that comes in on budget.
Via proprietary holding techniques, Gupta is able to cast pre-fabricated heating elements of the most complex shapes directly into the aluminum casting. Simply forget about labor intensive processes such as pressed-in heaters, open welded construction, etc.
Gupta has the capability and expertise to handle your production aluminum heater project from A to Z. This would include element fabrication, casting, CNC machining, bake-out, Hi-Pot testing, insulator assembly, terminal welding, etc. One purchase order does it all.
One of the key advantages of cast aluminum heaters is that they can deliver excellent temperature uniformity across the entire working surface. Your working surface won't have "hot" and "cold " spots, which can be detrimental in many applications.
Just as in the case of cooling, air is the enemy of good heat transfer, as it's one of the best insulators on earth. The dense, nearly porosity free casting from Gupta by definition has virtually no trapped air in the microstructure, which in turn enables maximum heat transfer and quick heat-up times.
Another, often less known, advantage of cast aluminum heaters is long life. Long life can be achieved when a heater is cast-in because the aluminum transfers the heat away from the element to prevent overheating.
One to multiple heating elements can be cast into an aluminum shape, giving the designer limitless freedom in getting heat to all areas of a potential working surface. Cast heaters are available in a wide variety of shapes, wattages, and voltages. Cast heaters can be manufactured into almost any design to meet the requirements of your heating application.
Because the heating element is completely ensconced in aluminum, it is 100% protected from wear and tear from use and the environment. Handling damage and wire fraying are greatly minimized.
Depending on program specifics and manufacturing processes used, part sizes can range from a few ounces to hundreds of pounds. Only in rare circumstances are orders too small or too large to be attained.
